Tek Tjing Lie
Professor Tek Tjing Lie is Deputy Head of School (Research) of the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Auckland University of Technology (AUT). He received his BS degree from the Oklahoma State University, MS and PhD degrees from Michigan State University. His research interests are in the fields of Power System Operation and Control, AI Applications to Power Systems, Deregulated Electrical Power Markets, Renewable Energy and Smart Grids.
Brief Overview of the research:
His research focus amicably: developing positive impacts of clean energy technology to society. The research studied wind, solar, and energy storage (battery) characteristics and how they are to be utilised. He has done work on the development of an algorithm to determine the optimal capacity and cost of hybrid renewable resources in isolated power systems. He has developed several solar irradiance-forecasting techniques as well as designing a tool for incorporating Smart Devices and Distributed Energy Resources into Smart Buildings. His other research focuses on the applications of HTS, advanced control techniques and electric vehicles
